Dear Alateen, Al-Anon, and AA Family and Friends:
I am very grateful to serve as your Al-Anon Chairwoman for the 50th annual San Fernando Valley AA Convention with Al-Anon participation. I came to Al-Anon in August 2009 in Panorama City, California, I was blessed without knowing and discovered many meetings and quickly felt at home. I jumped into service right away in my meetings, at the district level, and then at the conventions.
For over 15 years I have taken part in the SFVAAC convention, either as a volunteer or committee member. I have served in many capacities, such as Co-chair Spanish, Literature, Hospitality, Entertainment and Programs.
I have learned so many lessons from my years of convention service and gained more friends than I thought I could ever have. I have heard messages of hope and support that stay with me year after year which have led to building my own faith and hope. I can only imagine what awaits me this year as I serve as your chair and gain from the experience that comes from being of service.
I look forward to this year of planning meetings, fundraising events, and fellowship as we work toward our goals for the convention in January 2026
Dorly G.
